Sustainable Diets: Moving from Models to Action.

In November 2019, Dr. Jillian Fry, Assistant Professor at Towson University, spoke to an audience in New York City about the environmental harms of aquaculture and the world’s growing demand for seafood and meat. She focused on the need for governments and regulators to work toward reducing the climate impacts of animal agriculture.

NYU Panel on Animal Welfare Careers

On April 22, NYU Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and NYU Animal Welfare Collective held a panel on animal law careers and the state of animal law in the United States. Alicia, as well as four other panelists, spoke about the intersections of law and animal advocacy. The discussion focused on the avenues for advocates, including private practice, government, NGOs, and public interest law firms. The panel and audience had a lively discussion about animal’s legal status and current legal battles in farm animal protection.

What's Next for Food and Water: New Legal and Policy Insights on Climate, Migration & Sustainability

On February 27, Alicia Rodriguez, Our Executive Director, spoke on a panel hosted by the New York City chapters of the Harvard Law School Alumni Association and the Harvard Law School Women's Alliance. The panel featured lively and informative discussions about climate change, water usage, meat consumption, food production and plant-based meat litigation. Alene Anello, litigation fellow at the @animallegaldefensefund , and Diana Philip, Senior Research manager and Strategic Foresight Group, also spoke on the panel, creating an intersectional conversation that drew on environmental law, food regulation, international law, human rights, and animal law.
